Brushed Brass Chimney Range Hood with Pot Rail

The CKH-B05 is a brass chimney range hood with a brushed finish and gently curved sides. Its tall, narrow chimney opens into a wider canopy, giving it a traditional shape that works well with farmhouse and transitional kitchens.

Matching brass straps run down the front of the hood, with small rivets along the edges. A decorative pot rail sits across the lower front. The brushed finish gives the brass a softer, less reflective appearance than polished brass.

Finding the Right Hood Size

For effective ventilation, your range hood should be at least as wide as your cooking surface. A wider hood may provide better coverage, depending on your kitchen layout and cooking needs.

We generally recommend installing the hood 30–36 inches above the cooking surface, subject to the ventilation system and appliance requirements.

Every CKH brass range hood can be customized in width, height, and depth to fit your space.

Ventilation Options

Internal Blower: An internal blower is installed within the range hood's ventilation insert. It draws cooking smoke, grease, and odors through the filters and vents the air outdoors through connected ductwork. This is a practical choice for many residential kitchens.

Remote Blower: A remote blower places the motor away from the hood, such as in an attic, along the ductwork, or outside the home, depending on the system. This configuration can reduce motor noise near the cooking area and is ideal for projects requiring a customized ventilation setup.

Ductless / Recirculating: A ductless system filters cooking air and recirculates it back into the kitchen without external ductwork. It typically uses grease and activated carbon filters to help reduce grease and odors. Filter maintenance and replacement are required for continued performance.

Caring for Your Brass Range Hood

Proper care helps preserve the appearance and performance of your handcrafted brass range hood.

Brass Surface Care

  • Clean with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild dish soap.
  • Wipe gently and dry immediately with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, and ammonia, as they may damage the protective finish.
  • Do not use metal polish or abrasive brass cleaners on lacquered finishes.

Grease Filter Cleaning

  • Clean grease filters regularly, typically every 3–4 weeks, depending on cooking frequency.
  • Remove the filters and wash with warm, soapy water. Use a dishwasher only if the filter manufacturer confirms it is dishwasher-safe.
  • Allow filters to dry completely before reinstalling.

Blower & Ventilation Maintenance

Inspect accessible ventilation components periodically for grease buildup. Refer to your ventilation system's manual for maintenance instructions, and consult a qualified professional when needed.

A Note on Brass Finishes

Most CKH brass range hoods are finished with a protective coating to help preserve their appearance. Unsealed brass finishes may naturally develop a patina over time. Care requirements may vary depending on the selected finish.
