SIZE GUIDE
Wall Mount Range Hood
A wall mount range hood is designed to integrate seamlessly between cabinets while delivering efficient ventilation. Ideally, it should match the width of your cooktop or be up to 6 inches wider, with a typical depth ranging from 21–24 inches. For best results, install it 30–36 inches above the stove to ensure strong and reliable performance.
Island Range Hood
For optimal performance in open kitchen layouts, choose an island mount range hood that extends at least 6 inches wider than your cooktop. It should be installed 30–36 inches above the cooking surface to effectively capture smoke, steam, and odors. With a standard depth of 27 inches, this style offers powerful ventilation while serving as a striking focal point in your kitchen.
VENTILATION SYSTEM
Selecting the right ventilation system is key to maintaining a clean and comfortable kitchen. Range hoods are available in three main types: Internal Motor, Remote Blower, and Ductless Conversion. Each offers distinct advantages depending on your cooking habits, kitchen layout, and noise tolerance. Explore their differences to find the ideal fit for your kitchen.
Internal Motor: The most common and straightforward option to install. The motor is built into the liner inside the hood, and air is vented outside through ductwork located either at the back or the top of the hood.
Remote Blower: The remote blower is installed separately from the hood, commonly located in the attic, basement, or exterior of the building. This configuration is much quieter than internal motor; however, it requires a more complex installation process, as well as additional space and careful planning.
Ductless Conversion: Ductless ventilation operates without external ductwork by using specialized filters to capture grease, smoke, and odors. The purified air is then recirculated back into the kitchen. To maintain optimal filtration efficiency, these filters require regular cleaning or timely replacement.
